INTRO CLASS 1/2: PROOFING

Service Description

Introductory Class with no more than 3 dogs. In this Class, Participants and their Dogs are introduced to Barn Hunt. We start by ‘Proofing’ your Dog to the Ring and The 3 ELEMENTS of Barn Hunt: 1. CLIMB (all 4 paws on a Bale of Hay) 2. Tunnel (going through a Tunnel created with Bales of Hay) 3. Meeting a live Rat. Dogs are always on a lead, and separate from other dogs. Every dog is required to wear a belly band or diaper in the Intro Class, no exceptions. ONLY IMMEDIATE FAMILY MEMBERS ALLOWED TO ATTEND -- Dog Trainers can contact us directly if they wish to audit a Class. We go slow, with lots of praise and reward for several reasons: 1) You are introducing your Dog to a LOT -- it's a lot to process. 2) The Ring can be overwhelming or scary and Bales of Hay can be unsteady. Labradors & Reactive, Shy Dogs need to be introduced carefully, to get a feel for the Bales of Hay, and for your Team to learn the ‘Tricks of the Trade’ to succeed at Barn Hunt -- Hunt – and build CONFIDENCE in the RING. 3) We need Doggo to understand that this is NOT Hunting, it’s WORK, and a Game that their Person relies on them to WIN. 3) This Class develops your Dog’s respect for and anticipation of entering the Ring, with confidence and excitement, that going into the Ring is a PRIVILEGE. 4) We want to ‘Proof’ your Dog so that s/he is not WARY of OVERWHELMED, loves WORKING, and that s/he can expect FUN and PRAISE while doing a JOB. We will guide you and your dog through hands-on activities, including introducing a Rat introduction to stimulate prey drive and familiarize them with scent. You will gain a solid understanding of the sport, emphasizing enthusiasm, teamwork, and recognizing your dog’s Tube identification methods. Your dog will thank you! All participants will receive a Punch Card with a Free Fun Run! WE RECOMMEND THAT YOU SCHEDULE YOUR FREE FUN RUN AFTER TAKING 2/2 INTRO CLASS!

Cancellation Policy

NO Refunds, Cancellations or Rescheduling. We limit our classes to 3 dogs, and we often can’t fill the Spot if you cancel. We are a small biz & have to pay the rent! Thank you for understanding.
