INTRO TO SCENT WORK

SCENT WORK INTRO THIS CLASS IS NOT BARN HUNT, and does not involve the Ring or bales of hay! In this 45 Minute Class we discuss why Scent Work is so important for your Dog’s mental health and well-being. You will create your own Tins with Birch, Anise and Clove oil. And we will introduce exercises for you and your Dog to practice in the week ahead. ALL MATERIALS ARE INCLUDED IN THE INTRO CLASS. This Program focuses more on homework and drills that you will practice at home with your Dog daily than in-class exercises. Scent Work is exhausting for your Dog. We are flexing your dog’s ’Seeking System’, the part of the brain that is responsible for releasing Dopamine! In this Class we condition your Dog to search for smells that have no intrinsic canine value, by Imprinting Odor. We introduce Conditioning Markers and use a Switch Box to introduce two concepts: a) Building Hunting Behavior b) Imprinting Odor INTRO CLASS IS A PRE-REQ to HIGHER LEVEL CLASSES IMPORTANCE OF SCENT WORK It has been scientifically proven that engaging in SCENT WORK provides Dogs with the following Benefits: * Reduces anxiety and stress * Builds Confidence and Independence * Makes Dogs better behaved * 15 Minutes of Scent Work is more enriching and exhausting than a 1 Hour Walk AND reconnects your Dog with its nose beyond just smelling and marking.
